The Heckler & Koch HK416, often called the M416 or just 416, is an Alternate Weapon in the Assault Rifle category, appearing in Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist.

Overview[]

The HK416 was designed as an improved version of the M4 carbine. Replacing the gas tube with a gas piston, it runs cooler (and thus longer without maintenance) and is less sensitive to internal and external fouling than the direct impingement gas system of the standard M4/M16.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist[]

The HK416 is an Alternate Weapon in the Assault Rifle category and becomes available for purchase after purchasing the FAMAS F1. It can be switched between semi-automatic, two-round burst, and fully-automatic fire modes. Briggs uses an HK416 fitted with a holographic sight, angled foregrip, and suppressor when responding to the American Freedom attack and Sam utilizes one while defending the Paladin from an Engineer attack in the Yucatan.

Additionally, HK416s are also seen used by United States Army personnel in Guantanamo Bay and United States Navy SEALs responding to the American Fuel attack.

  • The 416 was originally named "M416" in the 2012 Splinter Cell Blacklist - Sam Fisher's Gear trailer. Its appearance was reminiscent of the original SC-20K M.A.W.S. in terms the mounted launcher, and the trailer features the 10" barrel D10RS sub-compact variant with no mounted Sights. The Stun Gun, Crossbow, and Tactical Crossbow would replace the launcher, and the D10RS was scrapped in favor of the the 14.5" barrel D145RS carbine variant.
  • In promotional artwork, Briggs is shown using the 416 with a holographic sight, angled foregrip, and either a muzzle brake or suppressor. The Transit Yards mission also shows him using the same rail, optic and silencer attachments by default. Any Ammo and Internal upgrades used in this mission are unknown because Briggs is unable to access Weapon Stashes.
  • Certain important features, such as a bolt catch paddle, dust cover, and magazine release button, are missing. This may just be a developer oversight, though.
  • Players are granted early access to the 416 if copies of the game were pre-ordered through Amazon or purchased through the Digital Deluxe Edition.
