Sam Fisher, as he appears in the Kinshasa level in Splinter Cell: Double Agent, wearing a pair of sunglasses.
Sunglasses are a form of protective eyewear that is used to shield the user's eyes from bright sunlight and other high-energy visible light from damaging or discomforting the wearer's eyes.
Gameplay[]
In Splinter Cell: Double Agent, sunglasses appear as a wearable item (classified as equipment) that reduces the chance of detection from enemies as well as providing a clearer contrast in the environment. The sunglasses only make an appearance in one level, Kinshasa. During gameplay, the sunglasses function similar to the player's Multi-Vision Goggles that are typically issued with on missions. Pressing right or left on the directional pad will toggle the sunglasses, typically at any time no matter what the player is currently doing.
A similar pair of sunglasses from Double Agent make an appearance in the first official mission of Splinter Cell: Blacklist, which Sam Fisher wears. He takes them off after the first segment, however, and they don't affect the gameplay or player's visual whatsoever.
Trivia[]
- The sunglasses in Splinter Cell: Double Agent seem to be modeled after the aviator sunglasses, which were developed by American company Bausch & Lomb.
- The sunglasses 'stick' the Sam Fisher's head with no chance of falling off. This can be seen when he 'flips' them on or off even while he is hanging upside down.
