The SIG Sauer P228 is a semi-automatic pistol featured in Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction and available for use by the player. It has three marks and a magazine capacity of thirteen rounds, or twenty after purchasing the Extended Mag upgrade. The P228 is very popular in the game, used by Black Arrow mercenaries, Third Echelon's operatives and Tom Reed, and enemies in Deniable Ops. The P228 is Grim's sidearm after she hands over her MK.23 to Sam to help him escape Price Airfield. It is also available to Victor Coste when the player assumes the role of him during a Gulf War flashback.

This weapon is very balanced, with fairly good range for mark and execute and pretty good accuracy with normal firing. It does have strong recoil compared to some of the more stable handguns, though, like the description says, so is best not fired very rapidly. The weapon has fairly good stopping power, killing enemies in three to four shots to the body depending on range and their level of armour. One big drawback is the gun is not suppressed, making it unsuitable in stealth-required situations. It is an ideal combat pistol, however, e.g. for the Last Stand Deniable Ops mode, as long as you're not being swarmed by too many enemies. After upgrade, its magazine holds 20 rounds, like the Five-seveN, although the Five-seveN boasts 4 marks and the quality of being suppressed.

Trivia[]

  • The P228 can be seen on the icon of the "Advanced Close Combat" P.E.C. challenge.
  • The in-game model is actually a SIG Sauer P226R, rather than the smaller P228.
