The EMP (ElectroMagnetic Pulse) Grenade is a device that produces a small pulse of omnidirectional, electromagnetic energy that interferes with all electrical circuitry within it's effective radius. It is used to temporarily disable lights, cameras, computers and all other types of electrical equipment.
Function[]
Splinter Cell: Double Agent[]
Sam Fisher had access to EMP Grenades when infiltrating John Brown's Army (version 2 only) It only works for electronics for a brief period.
Splinter Cell: Conviction[]
EMP Grenades first become available in Kobin's Mansion, and are aquired throughout Conviction at weapon stashes. They have considerable range, able to disable any electronic device and briefly stun enemies. Although they have a shorter range than the Portable EMP, they are more powerful within their effective range, meaning their effects last longer. Also, they are throwable and capable of carrying more.
Similiar to the Portable EMP, however, EMP Grenades do not interfere with turrets and security lasers.
Tips[]
- You can carry more EMP Grenades than Portable EMP in Deniable ops with equipment upgrades. So you can have 4 backup EMPs if you need to get out of trouble.
- Despite being the grenade type, throwing it will not cause an alarm or enemy reinforcements to be called in. But it will alert the enemies around to your presence, especially for those affected.
- This, along with Flashbang, Portable EMP and Frag Grenade, are your live savers when you are in tight situation. Enemies will flee from grenades, despite being LTL (Less-Than-Lethal).
- The EMP Grenade can also stun enemies for a brief period, though the Flashbang is better at stunning enemies.
