Thomas Leo "Tom" Clancy (April 12, 1947 - October 1, 2013) was an American novelist and historian that is best known for his military science and espionage stories and novels based during and after the Cold War. Tom Clancy's first, and perhaps best known novel, he published was The Hunt for Red October (published in 1984). This book was later produced into a film with the same name.

Tom Clancy's name is also best known in the Video Game world as the title for many popular tactical and military based Video Games published by Ubisoft. Video Games such as the Splinter Cell series, Rainbows Six series, Ghost Recon series and more; Tom Clancy's name was used for licensing and promotional means.
